Alright Oppo, I know there is someone on here who knows how to import an old car.

Details:

1967 Lotus Elan, right hand drive, title is obviously acquired.

I know we are way past the 25-year mark, but the information I am finding is all seriously boring technical jargon from NHTSA. You know, the stuff that rambles on for a long time without saying much.

So! Anyone know the jist of what I would have to do?

Thanks, here's a teaser

Check this out: http://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-im…

Everything you need should be in there.

I've got a basic set of knowledge around importing vehicles, But nothing too fancy.

Thanks! Looks like since it is so old, we don't have to worry about anything out of the ordinary.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about! Just follow all of the suggestions, and make sure to clean out the entire car pretty damn good before shipping.

Yeah that part was good to read. You wouldn't really thinking about doing that.

Make sure that your ISF form is filed ASAP. It is supposed to be filed before the ship leaves, but in my experience it is not possible to get all of the necessary paperwork before it leaves. Just make sure it is filed before the boat lands, or you could be fined.

Ok excellent. I believe my father in law is going to wait a couple of months so we should have time before he wants to ship it over.
